Why eat organic food?
Organic products are better for your health and for the environment because they have been obtained without the use of synthetic chemicals or genetically modified organisms. The consumption of organic food is increasing progressively as consumers demand better quality food. As social awareness of environmental issues grows, so does the demand for production systems that are environmentally friendly.
Food producers and processors have a series of advantages by having organic certification. A certified organic productprovides added value to the production by offering healthy and quality food. Performing this production by using an environmentally friendly system has its rewards; the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy and Rural Development Programmes are aimed at encouraging quality productions that are environmentally friendly through aids that are only available to organic agriculture and livestock production farmers.
